Labour have announced a national inquiry into the grooming gang scandal. But the fight isn't over:
After several months of dither and delay, this inquiry can't be another talking shop. We are calling for:
- Criminal investigations to be run in parallel to the inquiry and for the whole system to be looked at.
- The immediate deportation of foreign perpetrators.
- The inquiry to be fully independent with statutory powers covering local councils who can’t be trusted to investigate themselves.
- The inquiry to examine the role of ethnicity and religion in the cover up.
- Labour to publish a full Terms of Reference and ensure the report comes no later than June 2028.
See how we would ensure justice is served with our proposed Terms of Reference for a national statutory inquiry, drafted alongside survivors and advocates.
